Beautiful and Natural Environment?
Outdoor World Retreat is situated
at 3800 feet in the San Diego Mountains, halfway between El
Centro and San Diego. With over 330 days of sunshine a year, it
deserves
top billing as a place of natural beauty when comparing all
Southern California Campgrounds. Nestled in a fold of land, off
the main
roads, Outdoor World Retreat has hundreds of ancient, oak trees
that shade nearly every space. Each space is large [40 foot maximum
RV permitted] so that every camper has some privacy. Hiking trails
cover the 163 acre, Southern California Campground and wander
through the trees, native scrub brush, manzanita trees, huge
boulders and small hills. This Southern California Campground and
Retreat
is juxtaposed to a large amount of Public Land which is also
yours to explore. The water, pumped from well tapping into deep
underground
aquefirs, is one of the purest and most delicious in Southern
California. The air is pure, crisp and clear. The night skies
are unbelievable with the blanket of stars that are infinite.
"It was incredibly relaxing and peaceful,
and the staff were all very helpful."
Jona Barnes
A haven from everyday life?
There is a ‘hard to describe’
quality about this Southern California Campground. It is a quality
of peacefulness, perhaps brought about by the sound of the wind
through the leaves of the ancient, oak trees. Knowing that you
are sheltered by trees that are older than America, gives you
a feeling of being in a special place, a place of healing to your
soul. People have come here not caring a bit about their lives,
and something has healed them. Others come and find creative energy
that they had lost as a child. And some come, just to sleep, deeply
and restfully, to re-energize themselves for their busy lives.
